Construction Technology QQI Award (5M5010)

This practical, hands-on course introduces you to the core skills, tools, and techniques used in the construction industry. You will learn through real projects in wood fabrication, building services, hard landscape construction, and renewable energy systems, while developing essential workplace skills in health and safety, communication, and personal effectiveness.

Designed as a solid first step toward an apprenticeship or further training, this course builds the confidence and experience needed to start your career in the construction sector.

Course Content

Wood Fabrication (5N1999); Work Experience (5N1356); Safety and Health at Work (5N1794); Personal Effectiveness (5N1390); Renewable Energy Systems (5N4975); Word Processing (5N1358); Building Services (5N4974); Hard Landscape Construction (4N0681).

Certification

QQI Level 5 Certificate in Construction Technology (5M5010)

Duration

1 year – September to May (full-time)

Entry Requirements

Applicants should hold a Leaving Certificate, LCA, LCVP, or QQI Level 4 qualification. An interest in construction, a willingness to learn, and the motivation to develop practical skills are essential.

While previous experience is an advantage, enthusiasm, reliability, and a hands-on attitude are what matter most. Mature applicants are very welcome.

Employability & Progression Opportunities

Graduates progress to apprenticeships in construction through SOLAS or continue to QQI Level 6 and degree programmes in Construction Technology, Building Services, and Architectural Technology at TU Dublin, SETU, and other higher-education providers.
