Flexi Programme

September 2023 Part-Time Flexi Skills to Compete Courses

QQI Levels 4 & 5 component certificates

The Flexi programme is part-time and available free of charge to BTEI applicants or those in receipt of a social welfare payment and/or with a current medical card. This is a fresh new approach, based on a flexible menu that allows you to pick and choose the courses that you want from a list of options. You can choose to undertake 1 module and attend 1 afternoon/morning per week or you can do 2, 3 or 4 modules at a time. You can choose to undertake modules from the same general area or you could choose from a mixture of sectors.

These classes will be run subject to sufficient numbers enrolling.

Course Content

Modules are offered across a variety of different areas and include:

  • Creative Writing (Level 5)
  • Special Needs Assisting (Level 5)
  • Legal Practice & Procedures (Level 5)
  • Growing Vegetables (Level 4)
  • IT Skills (Level 4)
  • Career Planning (Level 4)
  • Home Repair and Maintenance (Level 4)

Outline of the modules:

Creative Writing (5N4765) – This 12 week course is designed to give learners an opportunity to develop their creative voice through a range of writing – including short stories, fiction, poetry, drama etc. Learners will explore key aspects of the writing process including the possibility of getting published. .

Special Needs Assisting (5N1786) -The aim of this 12-week course is to equip the learner with the knowledge, skill and competence in the practices and principles underpinning the role of a Special Needs Assistant, to enable them to work as an SNA in an educational-based setting.

Legal Practice & Procedures (5N1394): This course is designed to give you all the knowledge, skills, and know-how to understand and apply the law in different real-life situations. Whether you’re interested in a legal career or just want to know more about the law, this program will show you how the law affects your work and personal life.

Growing Vegetables (4N0671): This part-time course is all about giving you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to plant, nurture, and take care of a variety of vegetables. With expert supervision, you’ll learn the secrets of successful vegetable gardening from start to finish. From sowing seeds to maintaining healthy plants, you’ll become a green-thumb guru in no time!

IT Skills (4N1125): Designed specifically for learners who are new to computers this 12-week course will guide you every step of the way, equipping you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to operate a computer with ease. From the basics of using a computer to navigating through different programs, we’ll make sure you feel comfortable and empowered in the digital realm. 

Career Planning (4N1190): Looking for a chance of career? Or perhaps you’re looking to return to education but not sure what to study? This course is designed specifically for learners like you who are ready to take the leap and embark on a new educational journey. Our goal is to provide you with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to develop a realistic and achievable career plan. We’ll help you gain a deeper understanding of yourself, your strengths, and your interests, and then we’ll explore the exciting world of work to align your passions with potential career paths. 

Home Repair & Maintenance (4N3774): Interested in DIY? This course is perfectly crafted to help you confidently tackle a range of home repairs. From painting to plumbing, you’ll learn how to carry out home repairs and maintenance tasks.

We are now taking applications for our Flexi courses starting in September 2023. Applicants can apply online. TO APPLY?
