Kevin offers all-round Guidance which includes information on CAO, progression routes from Pearse College, apprenticeship information, information on funding and grants, study abroad options, guidance on how to approach academic work in Pearse College to include information on study tips and assignment structure, CV preparation and interview skills, personal statement writing, job search.
Kevin also offers an initial counselling service where he will listen to any difficulties students may be having and then, if necessary, refer the students to the appropriate service.
Eileen offers the above Guidance Supports. She also offers student supports and information relating to disability specific learning difficulties and adults who are returning to education. Eileen can help students to identify their educational support needs and ensure that the supports agreed are put in place.
She can apply for exam accommodations for students who are doing both the Leaving Cert and the QQI exams. Eileen also helps Leaving Cert students with HEAR and DARE applications which Leaving Cert students can access when they are submitting a CAO application.
Eileen will direct students to the appropriate learning supports within Pearse College and then on into Third Level colleges.
We like to get to know our students every year so please contact either Eileen or Kevin if you have any queries or concerns. If you do have any anxieties about college it is better to contact us early in the year so we can put the appropriate supports in place for you. We are an inclusive college and welcome everyone so please don’t feel that your anxieties or queries are in any way different. It is a learning environment and we, as Guidance Counsellors, are always learning too.
