This course blends creativity with technology, giving you practical experience in materials, 3D modelling, and digital fabrication. You’ll learn to design with purpose blending creativity, sustainability, and real-world problem solving.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should hold a Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification. We welcome enthusiastic, motivated learners who enjoy designing, making, and exploring creative ideas. Mature applicants are especially welcome to apply.

Third Level Links/Progression

Graduates have progressed to degree programmes in Product Design and related disciplines at TUD Dublin -Product Design (TU811), and at the NCAD -Product Design (AD212).

Many students also continue their studies through the Higher Education Links Scheme, using their QQI qualification to access other design-based courses such as Industrial Design, Interaction Design, and Sustainable Innovation in Ireland and abroad.

QQI Level 5 Design Award (5M2208)

Explore how design shapes outdoor spaces that are functional, sustainable, and engaging. This course develops the creative and technical skills used in landscape architecture — from drawing and model-making to digital design and environmental planning. You’ll learn to analyse sites, solve design problems, and create landscapes that connect people with their surroundings.

Entry Requirements

Applicants should hold a Leaving Certificate, LCA, or LCVP. An interest in design, the environment, and working creatively with outdoor spaces is essential. Mature applicants are very welcome.

Third Level Links/Career Opportunities

Graduates have progressed to degree programmes in Landscape Architecture and related built-environment fields at TUD – Landscape Architecture (TU835) and UCD -Landscape Architecture. Many also continue their studies through the Higher Education Links Scheme, using their QQI qualification to access courses in Environmental Design, Sustainable Planning, and Horticulture at other third-level institutions in Ireland and abroad.

Graduates can also go on to assist with design projects in parks, public spaces, and private gardens, or continue their studies toward professional practice in landscape architecture

Skills to Advance programme

Pearse College are delighted to continue our Skills to Advance programme which provides free upskilling courses for those currently employed in a business, childcare, healthcare or community sector. All classes take place online, one afternoon a week. IT support classes will be available to students throughout the course.

• Education: Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 4 when accessing a Level 5 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.
• Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
• Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.

Employability Statement

This is an excellent opportunity for employees to come back into education and training to develop and enhance existing skills and competencies.

Work placement / work experience may be a core feature/element of programmes in this field facilitating the enhancement of employability and transversal skills.
