Pearse College are delighted to continue our Skills to Advance programme which provides free upskilling courses for those currently employed in a logistics or healthcare sector. All classes take place online, one afternoon a week. IT support classes will be available to students throughout the course.

- Spreadsheet Methods (5N1977) – Please note this module will be self-paced and delivered online; limited places are available.

Entry Requirements
- Education: Applicants should have a standard of knowledge, skill and competence equivalent to NFQ Level 4 when accessing a Level 5 programme. Applicants may have participated in primary and secondary education although no formal qualifications are required.
- Aptitude: Applicants must have a motivation to learn, an interest in the subject and the ability to acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies set out in the course.
- Previous Experience: Applicants must be able to demonstrate a moderate range of knowledge, skills and competencies relevant to the course, be able to work with responsibility and demonstrate the ability to work on their own initiative.
Employability Statement
On completion of this Programme, learners may pursue roles within the Distribution & Logistics sector which may include working as warehouse managers, facility management or international freight management.
Work placement / work experience may be a core feature/element of programmes in this field facilitating the enhancement of employability and transversal skills.
We are delighted to work with the IFFA (Irish Freight Forwarding Association) in the delivery of this course.

This course is only available to employees working in the Logistics & Distribution sector and is free. There are no course fees applied if you are currently employed.

The role of the Speech & Language Therapy Assistant is to assist the Speech & Language Therapy team in enabling service users & patients to achieve their speech and language potential and supporting families in the areas of speech & language.
This one-year course is designed to give anyone with an interest in this field, a good understanding and appreciation of the role of Speech & Language Therapy and provide for the acquisition of relevant theoretical and practical skills. The course also provides students with the opportunity to develop relevant work-related skills in a healthcare setting.

Please note that an online introduction to all courses will take place on Wednesday (16 September) / Thursday (17 September) with face-to-face induction and orientation being held from Monday, 20 September. All course co-ordinators will be in contact with learners directly.

Transition Year Programme
The Preparation for Leaving Certificate with ESOL Programme is a Transition Year course which will allow learners to come back to education and prepare for either the Leaving Certificate or a Further Education and Training Course. As such, it’s a starting point for all other courses in Pearse College and beyond.
Course Content
You will take a variety of subjects including Communications (4N0689), Computer Applications (4N1112), Maths (4N1987), and English as a Second Language (4N1180).
Reading and writing support classes are also offered.
Certification
QQI Level 4 Component Certificates in General Learning.
Duration
1 year – September to May (full-time)
Entry Requirements
This course is open to everyone of all backgrounds and experience. Students will meet with the tutor and discuss their needs and suitability for the course.
Students will also take an English test.
Where can I go from here?
Many students who have completed this course of study have gone on to complete a Leaving Certificate or a QQI Level 5 course in Pearse College.
